Fast game, now it's almost 2am... Little Alex is sound asleep, my father is sleeping, my mother is sleeping too. Everyone in sleeping, except me. And I am working morning shift later...So just a fast update then I shall go to bed again... . Bought a new bag for little Alex @ Kiddy Palace. There are a few choices to choose but I think she might like this one. When she got home after school, I show it to her and I ask her if she likes it or not. She likes it, then she proudly went to show her grandmother...
Still ok, not too expensive... Little Alex got full marks for her Chinese spelling so gotta reward her a bit.
. . Yesterday I got a package from all the way from U.K. Oh ok, it's a book that I bought online... Now I find shopping online is pretty fun and convenient, esp you want to find stuffs that are rare and "going to extinct". Somehow or another, there will be someone who has it and selling it too. . Check it out at this website..
I still haven't read it yet, when I'm done then I shall share here, ok?

I saw this quote while waiting for someone at Boon Lay MRT station, so I snap a pic of it... I think I ever post it before, but who cares. You got to see it again.

<<没有车没有房>> 黄金剩女版
Then someone come out with their own revenge lyrics...

haha... last night when I got home from work, I checked how much marks did little Alex got for her Chinese spelling... 2/2. Can you figure what words she is writing? 生气 and 高兴.. ok lah, not too high expectations from her... At least got the similiarity there. . . Last week I went to Cineleisure to catch "The Man From Nowhere", I saw this Lotus car parked next to my car. Not my car as is mine, but the car which I was driving. Snap a quick one before the owner appears.
Cool looking, huh?

Just got home from Cineleisure...

Just now catched "The Man From Nowhere". This show is really nice.

Just sent little Alex to school... now got nothing to do for the time being. Later need to listen to audio training, so today I shall blog about little Alex's children.

this one is call 大头. Sometimes little Alex will bring her go out put in her bag.

this one is call 魔鬼... It was actually a gift from one of my KL friends.

this is snake. It is a given to her by one of the 7-Eleven staff, can't remember which 7-Eleven now... So being cute and noti oso got privilege one.

this is Tweety Bird. I can't remember why I bought this for her now... Little Alex seldom bring her out, dunno why...

this is cunning bear bear... how we got him is actually someone thrown him away at the staircase so we wash it clean and give it to little Alex.

this one is call CJ7.... I bought it at Changi Airport T3.

this one is Hello Kitty, everyone knows lah... Little Alex use to say " papa fever momo fever tweety bird fever bear bear fever, etc.. hello kitty no fever" then I will ask , her why hello kitty no fever leh, she will reply me why hello kitty got fever leh... i will tell her cos' hello kitty got drink water so she got no fever loh...

this one is call 小叮当. It was my birthday gift for her 2nd birthday...

this one is the latest member, his name is call Momo anak. I bought it at Sun Plaza...

So much for the introduction, it's time to lie down for a while.
Little Alex is sleeping, still sleeping.... cos' it is raining outside now. So nice to sleep, huh? In my last post, I couldn't upload the new dress I got for her. So here it is...

It looks pretty long, right? I thought so too when I first saw it, but it only reaches her knee level... It was supposed to cost like $30, according to the girl tending the stall. But at the stall it was selling for only $10, so I buy it. The texture is nice and little Alex loves to wear it.
I think I should buy more of such dress for her. Better not wear too much pants and tee shirts.
Last nite when I reached home, my mother was telling me what this little lass did....
Little Alex dunno from where found a red packet, put a $1 coin inside and give it to my mother, wish her "Happy Birthday". Then she also roll some veggies and wrap it up with some paper, treat it as some flowers and tuck them to my mother. haha...

Yesterday took little Alex out. When I reached home after my night shift, she was already waiting for me in the living room. She was eating ice cream, when she saw me she give me her ice cream. She said she can't finished woh...

So I quickly push her into the bathroom to bathe and we went out. I planned to take her to the Coffee Club at Takashimaya, so we took a bus to Boon Lay MRT station. When we reached Bouna Vista station, she was making a lot of noise so I alighted there. "Hey, why not we go to the Coffee Club at Holland Village?" So we went there. The weather is really hot and I'm wearing black, sweating all over.
I checked out the menu first before entering, to make sure I can utilise the M1 voucher I redeemed. I asked to be seated at the 2nd floor. Basically we are the one customers at the 2nd floor. Little momo was whining that she wants to eat cake and I oso promised her to treat her cakes. She was saying she want a small cake dun want big cake cos' small cake is cheaper. She will keep on repeating that she cut one for papa, one for mama and one for yeye.
I show her to menu asking what she wants to order, she was like scanning through the menu and very quickly she was pointing to this Berry Smoothie. I also ordered for myself a drink and of cos' not forgetting her cake. I got for her the most sinful most delicious cake of all, Muddy Mud Pie.
Berry Smoothie

Green Apple & Mojito Mint, that is for me...

Muddy Mud Pie, see how sinful was it? It was a wonder how not to gain an extra kg after you consume it, haha...
When the Berry Smoothie and Green Apple & Mojito Mint arrived, little Alex wants my drink. She pushed hers to me... I tried to snatch it back but she doesn't let me. So I gotta con her a bit...
This Muddy Mud Pie, basically it was a ice cream cake. I tell you, it was really nice and it was so sweet. Little Alex was eating it till her hands and face was stained with the chocolate. She obviously not able to finish it all by herself, so I help her... hehe.
We are eating there for quite a long time. Little Alex was playing with the mud pie. Instead of it looks like a mud pie, it becomes a mud pie (if you can visualise it how does mud looks like). It becomes a pool of.... Okay, I cut it here.
Then comes a mother with her new born baby. Little Alex keep looking at them, I told her that is how she looks like too when she is newly born. We finished up with our mud pie and I took her to wash up a bit. We left the place after footing the bill and I took her to walk around Holland Village a while.
Then we took bus #7 to Orchard. It was raining when we arrived there at Somerset. Little Alex was sleeping on my shoulders, you know something nice happens when I was at the traffic light. One girl offers me her umbrella to cross the road while she share with her friend. Initially I turned her down but she keep on passing me her umbrella, so I guess it would be kinda rude to refuse her anymore. We went to Somerset @313 to take shelter from the rain first.
Little Alex wakes up and she is hungry, so I took her to find something to eat. She said she want to eat fish ball, so I got for her. She is indeed very hungry cos' she finished all 3 in one go. Normally she will only eat 2 and keep the last one in her bag.
She is still hungry so I took her to have her lunch. She dun want to sit in the tall chair, she said she won't run around... But she still runs around. I had to catch her back, put her on the chair... and she runs away again. And guess what, she vomitted. It was lucky cos' I knew it was coming and managed to turn her away but it still stains her dress. I had to take her to buy a new dress... I was thinking where to get a new dress in Somerset area, then I remember there is a flea market at Orchard Central. And true enough, I got her a nice blue dress for only $10. I took her to the toilet to change into it while I washed off the stain from her old dress. I was finding for the toilet and I ask little Alex where was it. She coolly point to the direction... Smart girl.
She loves her new dress and she was like dancing around. I told her not to jump around again or else she will vomit again. We went to City Hall, I was thinking of taking her to Marina Bay Sands. We exit via Esplanade, along the way I took some pics of the display there.

Don't ask me what does this means...
In fact I was already walking towards Marina Bay Sands when the sky begins to rain. So I decided not to go there anymore. It was quite a distance through. We still need to reach Helix Bridge before reaching Marina Bay Sands. So I carry her and cross over the road to Marina Square.
And there is another surprise there...

There is this mega balloon exhibition going on. Everything is made from balloons. Many people are posing and taking pics there. I took little Alex a tour inside.
Then little Alex was telling me she wants to go home, and the time is only 4 pm. So okay, we went home. She was sleeping when we are inside the MRT. I guess she is too tired from all the walking.

Ground Down or Polished Up by John C. Maxwell

A few years ago a friend was telling me about stopping at a junkyard to get a part for his car (today they are called recycling centers; back then junkyard was still an acceptable term!). As he was making small talk with the owner, he asked him where he got his inventory, assuming most came in as a result of automobile accidents. "I get a few of my cars from wrecks," the man said. "But most of them end up here because they are just worn out."

That story made me realize the same is true with people. When I think about the leaders I know, good leaders who are no longer leading, I realize that a few of them had been in wrecks of some kind. But the vast majority had just worn down. Life seems to grow increasingly difficult, and none of us escape the daily grind. However, I've noticed that people tend to respond differently to identical pressures. That has led me to this conclusion:

Life is a grindstone. Whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends upon what you are made of.

There are several skills that, if cultivated, will allow you to face the same stressors you face today and be better for the experience.

The Ability to See the Big Picture
If you can't see what you are doing now as part of a long-range goal, you'll wear out. Imagine how long an athlete would be able to endure the pain of practice if they couldn't see the game in their mind's eye. Imagine how long a farmer would endure the hot sun of summer toil if he could not envision the harvest of fall.

The Ability to Defuse Worry
I'm convinced that it's not the work of life, but the worry of life that robs so many of their strength and breaks down their resolve. The only surefire remedy for worry is confidence.

Worry consists of creating mental pictures of what you do not want to happen. Confidence is creating mental pictures of what you want to happen.

Any golfer who has ever stood on one side of a water hazard thinking, don't hit it in the water, don't hit it in the water, can describe the result of the former. You'll be going wading very shortly! Good golfers have learned the knack of shaking off the last shot, good or bad, and approaching the next one with confidence. The same goes for leaders.

The Willingness to Quit Seeking Security
A ship that never leaves the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are for. Too often we are devastated by failure that could have almost been predicted. The willingness to make mistakes, lots of them, is one of the prices we must pay for the advancement of a worthy cause.

The Ability to Gauge When Enough's Enough
No one expects their car to run forever without stopping to fill the fuel tank, but when it comes to our physical body, we foolishly refuse to stop when it's time to rest, refuel and recreate. I believe that too much of the wearing down I see is self-inflicted.

The Wisdom to Choose Your Associates
Most of us have far more choices than we think when it comes to the company we keep. Even when we must work with negative people, we can choose to avoid being reduced to their level. Life is hard enough without having to go through it with negative, critical or lazy people.

Ground down or polished up? The choice is really yours to determine.

Creating Your Character Is Like an Artist Creating a Sculpture by Jim Rohn

Could creating your character be likened to an artist creating a sculpture? In my opinion, I believe that character is not something that just happens by itself, any more than a chisel can create a work of art without the hand of an artist guiding it. In both instances, a conscious decision for a specific outcome has been made. A conscious process is at work. Character is the result of hundreds and hundreds of choices you make that gradually turn who you are, at any given moment, into who you want to be. If that decision-making process is not present, you will still be somebody. You will still be alive, but may have a personality rather than a character.

Character is not something you were born with and can’t change, like your fingerprints. In fact, because you weren’t born with it, it is something that you must take responsibility for creating. I don’t believe that adversity by itself builds character and I certainly don’t think that success erodes it. Character is built by how you respond to what happens in your life. Whether it’s winning every game or losing every game. Getting rich or dealing with hard times. You build character out of certain qualities that you must create and diligently nurture within yourself. Just like you would plant and water a seed or gather wood and build a campfire. You’ve got to look for those things in your heart and in your gut. You’ve got to chisel away in order to find them. Just like chiseling away the rock in order to create the sculpture that previously existed only in your imagination.

But do you want to know the really amazing thing about character? If you are sincerely committed to making yourself into the person you want to be, you’ll not only create those qualities but you’ll continually strengthen them. And you will recreate them in abundance even as you are drawing on them every day of your life. Just like the burning bush in the biblical book of Exodus, the bush burned but the flames did not consume it. Character sustains itself and nurtures itself even as it is being put to work, tested, and challenged. And once character is formed, it will serve as a solid, lasting foundation upon which to build the life you desire.

Little Alex got her new toy, and every night she will bring it out and cook. You know what, she really knows how to cook. She will fry the veggies and cover it with the lip.. Then she will serve it to you, and you have to eat it or else she will be angry with you. So I have to entertain her every night when she cooks for us.

And you know, she even has the air of a great cook... When she is cooking, you cannot disturb her. No one is supposed to come to her kitchen and interfere with her cooking. You cannot touch her pan, her stove, her plates, etc.

I like to poke her with the knife, haha... She will tell me "papa poke momo, momo will bleed many many blood, then no more momo already.."

Will you eat 16 packs of sugar?

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

Sunday took little Alex out on the streets again... It has been some time since I took her out, cos' all the previous weekends are spent at home coaching her spelling for the tests the following weeks.

Since she has done pretty well in her English, so I decided to reward her a bit.

I treat her to a Hershey pie... She was busy eating and refused to look into the camera. I had to hold down her hand to snap a few pics. I told her to leave some for me, and she really did.

This is "how" much she leaves for me to eat.... 'darn'
But never mind lah, she is my little Alex mah.
Actually I thought of bringing her to Coffee Club for some cakes and maybe some nice cold coffee but I think I shall leave it for the next time. Till then, we can have some little time over the weekend. After my payday and bonus is coming on the way, can take little Alex for something nice. I think it's time to change her Spongebob backpack and ger for her some nice clothes.
Thought of bringing her to the Singapore Discovery Centre, you know I can put her in front of the mirror and make her disappear, haha. After that we can have lunch at Burger King or Pastamania nearby. I think Pastamania will be better cos' she likes to eat mee/noodles.
Did I mention to you before that now little Alex learninng how to play laptop? Still remember I got for her a laptop from M1 loyality program a ASUS laptop that doesn't comes with a CD-ROM? Yeah, she will take it out and wants to see her own pics. That little lass will even ask me to teach he which is the ON button... where to press to see herself...
Ok, time to take her to school now.

Just a small packet of biscuits...

This little packet of biscuits got a great story to share...
Last nite I was about to go to work, and little Alex is watching TV alone. I told her to close the door for me, she quickly get up and run to the kitchen, opens the drawer and took a small packet of biscuits and hide it behind her back. Then she pushed me out of the door and quickly close the metal grill gate. She passed me that small packet of biscuits and told me "Put inside your bag, eat it when you are at work".
Then she give me a flying kiss and continue to watch her TV programme...
